“Come to my window…” Bargaining at UC Santa Cruz

Update (10/28): Melissa Etheridge just retweeted a video of student workers singing ‘Come to My Window’!

This week bargaining took place at UC Santa Cruz for the first time during this contract campaign. Seventy-five fired up graduate students convened for a rally and then marched to the building where bargaining was taking place.

The crowd urged UC Management to meet with them by belting out a boisterous rendition of the Melissa Etheridge song  “Come To My Window.” Unfortunately, management remained where they were, peering down at the impromptu karaoke session from a second-floor window.

Later in the day, the bargaining room was full of bargaining team members and rank-and-file UCSC union members (this photo below was taken while management convened outside the room–you are not allowed to record while bargaining is taking place).
