A report-back from the first meeting: Thanks to everyone who came out to our first Resistance Social gathering on Friday evening–it was great to see familiar faces and meet new people! At the meeting, we voted:
1. in support of the following general framework (but not these specific words): We are a group dedicated to fighting the many dimensions of privatization. Specifically, we recognize the destructive roles police and prisons play in making our campus and surrounding community a hostile and unsafe place, particularly for people of color and undocumented people. We fight for workers’ rights, debt-free public education, and against the enforcement of austerity.
2. to organize a teach-out and day of action on campus on Tuesday, September 17 and to turn people out to the UC Regents’ meeting at UCSF on Wednesday, September 18.
3. to meet again on Tuesday, September 3 @ 6pm in Dwinelle 205 to start planning the next steps.
Hope to see you Tuesday!
